I remember fondly Harvest's initial outreaches to the community at Anza Narrows Park in Riverside in the 80's. Those were great times as a young Christian! A quarter decade later, it is truly sobering the realization these small, local events foreshadowed this church body's national and global Gospel crusade outreach today. And Pastor Greg Laurie has continually stayed on message over those years. The simple Gospel, the answer to America's travails, and to any lost souls' search:

We are sinners, we need a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ paid the price and is that answer and only hope, and we need to give our lives to Him.

That being so, it is important the Christian community with access to this event does not become complacent concerning the opportunity because of its familiarity. National and world events continue to worsen. Yet, we understand that the Lord is “plowing the ground” and millions are looking for answers and security in these very troubled times.

Yet, “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Rom 10:14) Our mandate is still to “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mrk 16:15)

Across this troubled world, which part of the body of Christ, His Spirit-filled Church, has the singular and technologically unique ability to impact the world today? Who has the global reach through the alternative media and the Internet? American Evangelical Christianity does! The Lord is no where near done with the Church in America yet!

Therefore, the Southern California Christian community, the hundreds of churches and thousands of believers, partnering with the year 2006 Harvest Crusades, have a chance, a wide open door of opportunity, to be actively involved in the Gospel being preached on a national, and even global scale.

So, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us….” (Heb 12:1). Someday, as American Christians, we will answer for all that we have been given, the unique resources and opportunities unprecedented in Church history. That, while standing before those who gave their very lives through two millennia for their testimony and faith in Jesus Christ.

May we serve well! See you at the crusade!
